Czech artist Jakub Chmelar late last month released his new single, "Speechless". I say new, but it's also his debut, and what a way to announce himself onto the scene. Speaking of the song, Jakub says - "It is a personal protest and a celebration of queer resilience. I wrote it after years of hiding parts of myself to survive, and the song gives voice to everything I once kept inside."
... a cinematic and vocally driven protest anthem celebrating queer resilience.
The cinematic single is very vocal drive, with Jakub's big vocal tones taking center-stage with a backing of strings and powerful percussion. "Speechless" reminds me of those huge Eurovision ballads that have plenty of emotion, and this song has it in abundances.
If you keep an ear out for the lyrics you can see why this is more than just a debut, it feels (and sounds) like Jakub is getting something out of his system, helping him to shine bright. I half expect to see him gracing the Eurovison stage at some point with vocals like this!
