Hailing from Stockport is James Stephen & The Good Ones, and just a few days ago saw the outfit share their debut single, "Growing Up". Speaking of the song, James says - " ... this single delves into the universal theme of the realities of growing up."
... a joy-fuelled, folk-rock debut bursting with charm, drive, and more warmth than a Mumford bonfire.
If upbeat were a song I feel like this is what it would sound like, at least from the intro alone. You're welcomed into the track with a rush of upbeat guitar strokes and percussion that can have you moving along to the beat. Add in some charming vocals and what you have here is something that can easily beat anything that Mumford & Sons ever done.
It's vibrant and full of life, and we felt at ease with the song way before the first chorus even came in, and when it did I was almost overflowing with joy. There is no denying that this is a phenomenal debut, and if the following few songs/releases are even half as good as this then we may have a new Folk/Americana band to get hooked onto!
