North London-based Oaken Lee today shares their brand new single, "One Summer Gone", and the folk song is one that'll be sure to enter your liked songs on the first play.
... a breezy folk gem with Vampire Weekend vibes, catchy basslines, and delightful backing vocals that’ll linger long after the last note.
It comes in at under two minutes but the sounds on this are mesmerising. There's a massive Vampire Weekend sound on this, from the vocals, backing vocals and even down to the quality of the production. It's very quirky and has some delicious moments of bass that ebb and flow throughout the song.
The backing vocals for me were a pure delight, adding plenty of depth to what structurally is a simplistic track. But sometimes the more simpler songs are the ones that linger in your mind, and this one had me humming along with the synth bursts way after the track finished.
