teenweek just about a month ago revealed their debut single, "The Kids Are Cruel", and the opening offering from the Berlin-based band is quite the indie anthem. "The Kids Are Cruel" comes at you at first with a smooth burst of synths draped in haze, accompanied by a crisp percussive section; the vocals are also equally silky.
... a dreamy, synth-soaked indie anthem packed with urgent vocals, hazy guitars, and a chorus you’ll be looping all summer.
It's rather urgent, despite the tempo with the vocals bursting out delightfully intertwined with the dreamy guitars. I did also love the melodies with the backing vocals in the chorus, adding even more depth to what already is a track that has so much going on.
At just three minutes long, there is a lot of chances to replay this song over and over again, so be sure to follow them, as we're already excited about new tracks (when they untimely come).
