After a big 2020 with multiple releases, Dublin-based Def Nettle today returns with the first cut of their 2026 campaign, and it's business as usual, it seems.
... a sharp, accent-rich, brooding post-punk cut blending retro flair and modern bite.
"Mohawk" is a punchy track with an incredibly sharp guitar that dominates the opening sequence. Vocally speaking, it's very Irish in that you can hear the accent in the music, which is something I adore. The voice is moody, brooding and really helps you lean in further to the track.
The instrumentation here is on point, impactful percussion is laced with a blend of edgy and dreamy guitar tones that help to bring this post-punk track to life. I'd say that this song is nostalgic yet contemporary; it's got that retro flair with a modern twist, and we're here for it.
With radio play on big-hitters such as BBC Radio 6 Music (UK) and RTÉ 2FM (IRE) you know he's got that something special.
