Brighton-based multi-instrumentalist Alan Grice, performing as Fierce Friend, has recently delivered a mesmerising new single titled "Tokyo Rose".The new single is his seventh of the year, and all of these singles are part of his comeback, having had a break from 2019 to the present day, but it sounds to me like he is back with a bang.
.. .an infectious, atmospheric return packed with tortured sliding guitars and the distinct, quirky brilliance of late-2000s Radiohead.
I really love the sliding guitar tones on this that are very effect-laden and sound almost tortured throughout the track, but in a good way. It gets deep within your mind and will leave you hooked because of how infectious it is.
The vocals are very atmospheric and have shades of Thom Yorke about them. In fact, the whole song somewhat reminds me of those quirky Radiohead singles from the late 2000s.
There is so much on offer in this song, and having been backed by the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music, there is no ceiling for Fierce Friend. I feel like if he keeps on releasing music of such high quality as this, then his name will be on everyone's lips.
