Manchester-based rising artist Olivia Booth has today delivered a fierce alt-rock punch with her striking new single "Frozen." The track just came out hours ago, but thankfully we got a pre-release stream. I can personally say that I have been enjoying it for the last week since I first landed my ears upon it.
It's got an incredible intro that highlights her emotion and vocal prowess from the get-go. As soon as the drums come in, the track steadily builds with extra layers of guitar and a haunting synth tone that just buzzes away in the background before it ultimately erupts at the 1.5-minute mark into an incredibly strong indie rock cut.
... a fierce, gritty alt-rock track bursting with Manchester indie energy and powerful vocal prowess.
There's that undeniable Manchester indie grit in the song, and it has a tremendous amount of indie rock energy that is just swirling around the scene in the UK at the moment. There are a lot of acts that are rising out of the Manchester scene, and it seems like Olivia Booth is amongst the few that have the talent to break out beyond the city onto the wider scene.
We have praised her on previous releases before, and there's no denying that we love every release that she drops. With praise coming from BBC Introducing and Radio X, it's no wonder that we were excited to hear her music a week before it was released. We have never been so excited to publish an article before as we can't wait for everyone else to hear this.
With a plethora of songs already out for you to get stuck into, this is a perfect stepping stone into the world of Olivia Booth.
