IT'S ALL INDIE

Bursting out from Spokane, United States, is Danny Suede, who has recently released his new track titled "shadows on the pavement". The new offering from the American singer-songwriter has already shot to the top of his most popular songs on Spotify, and I can easily tell why from the very first minute. ... a shimmering, uplifting slice of bedroom pop that feels made for sunny days. The opening sequence of the song is a delicate balance of acoustic guitar mixed with his serene vocals and a dash of electronic pulses just to get you all warmed up. For me, the fusion of bedroom pop and alternative pop sounds reminded me of an early Ed Sheeran as he was about to take over the British music scene. With that in mind, it sounds like Danny is also going in that direction. It is such an uplifting track and has brilliant shimmering moments that make this an unmistakably top pick for your Sunkissed playlists. He is an artist who is on the rise, so be sure to listen to him as soon as you...

Coming out of Fort McMurray in Canada is the Christian rock artist JF Roy. The new single is his third of the year, and this singer-songwriter is the kind of artist that gets tens of thousands of plays on his music. It sounds like this track could be his biggest hit to date. ... an inspiring and uplifting alt-rock anthem blending 90s-tinged guitars, crunching basslines, and bright, hopeful pop sensibilities. It is a very upbeat offering with a bright intro, delightfully upbeat guitars, and, of course, his stunning vocal tones paving the way. I really did like the crunching bass on this one, mixed with the sprightly guitar sounds and tight percussion. His vocals are stunning, and when it hits the chorus for the first time, it comes into this inspiring anthem. With a hint of 1990s alternative rock about it, mixed with more modern pop sensibilities, this song is the kind that can straddle a generation or two, with hopefully lots more fans discovering his music along the way. With the ...

Singer-songwriter Brittney Jenkins - aka Pisgah - with the bold new single, "Delphinus and Dippers". We have previously had her on our website before, and for good reason too. The new track has a delightful intro that lasts for 40 seconds before her wonderful vocals come rolling in, almost like Cigarettes After Sex and Beach House, but with even sweeter vocals behind it. This is a sizzling, emotive alternative rock gem, and the London-based artist honestly knows no bounds. This sounds like it has been written to close music festivals on a Sunday, with the rain coming down and the mood high, with plenty of people admiring her on stage. One thing I personally loved was the delicate balance of the moody vocal tones and the shimmering guitars...

After the fifth season getting a 'bad reaction' in America (which us Brits found very humorous), season six comes bursting with all the usual. Drugs, Sexual content and an abundance of swearing. Coming out of the London scene is artist Adam Wedd, and the singer-songwriter is back with a new, heartfelt track, "Soar". Opening up with some glittering orchestral pop with piano keys shining high, it is quite the introduction to one of Adam's most heartfelt tracks to date. ... a deeply moving and cinematic orchestral-pop tribute, rich with soaring vocals, tender piano, and heartbreaking beauty. Written in memory of his late friend Peter Holmes, this cinematic track has some beautiful arrangements and plenty of emotion behind it. Interwoven into the lyrics is Adam showcasing his stunning vocal tones, and you can easily hear him capturing those moments about his long-lost friend. There's something so beautiful and equally heartbreaking about this song. As you move into the latter third of the song, you can really hear how cinematic it becomes, with a decent amount of strings laced on top of a simplistic piano sound and Adam's soaring, angelic vocals, almost cares...

Hailing from Lewisham in South London, England, 2nd Magpie Project has today delivered an expansive and dreamy new single titled "Divine Intervention." If you like your shoegazy sounds mixed with strong and powerful vocals, then this is something that you'll love from the first play. ... a cinematic and atmospheric shoegaze gem blending moody Nick Cave-esque guitars with expressive, haze-filled vocals. I personally loved the strong Nick Cave-esque guitars in the background, almost filling the track with haze and character. It's an incredibly moody offering, with the chorus almost cementing their place in your darker, moodier playlists. To me, it sounds like the perfect kind of song to listen to when you're stuck at home on a dreary rainy day in November, but with expressive lyrics that can help you paint a picture in your head to take your mind away from things. Overall, I'd say this is cinematic and atmospheric, with plenty of shoegazing alt-rock moments ...

Martin Kuiper drops his strong new album, "Prison Of Modesty"

Hailing from Ruurlo, Netherlands, singer-songwriter Martin Kuiper delivers a captivating blend of '90s alt-rock and grunge on his album "Prison Of Modesty".We previously had Martin on our website before, but today is an exciting day as this sees his new album finally land. The album is comprised of 10 tracks, of which seven were previously released. We are going to focus on some of the tracks that are new here—or at least new to us. I can't help but praise the opening track, "Still I Promise", as this is a fantastic gateway song to his sound, with plenty of Beach Boys-styled backing vocals laced upon a rather indie-rock-driven track, almost beckoning you into the 10-track album. One of the new tracks is called "In Security", and it's quite the charming cut with some moody guitar tones that reminisce of those 1980s bands, such as Dire Straits. With that, his vocals really do come to light here as the song is rather stripped back in terms of its ...

The Origins of Indie Rock Music: From Underground Roots to Global Stages

Indie rock music is one of the most beloved and influential genres in modern music. Known for its DIY ethos, raw authenticity, and refusal to conform to mainstream industry norms, indie rock has evolved from underground beginnings into a global movement. But where did indie rock come from, and how did it grow into the genre we know today? What Does “Indie Rock” Mean? The term “indie” originally stood for independent . In the late 1970s and early 1980s, bands that weren’t signed to major record labels released their music through smaller independent labels . Over time, the word “indie” became less about the business model and more about the sound and attitude —raw, experimental, and often outside the mainstream. The 1970s: Punk and Post-Punk Influence Indie rock’s origins are deeply tied to the punk rock explosion of the mid-1970s. Bands like The Sex Pistols and The Clash proved that music didn’t need polished production or major backing to make an impact. Out of punk came post-punk ...

EVE.L shares her pop-banger, "SUGAR EATER."

EVE.L, a bold UK-based artist originating from England, is back - and if you like the sound of Grimes and early Charli XCX, this is for you. ... an explosive, Coachella-ready pop fusion blending Grimes-esque vocals with tropical and K-pop influences into a high-energy anthem. The sounds on offer are a unique blend, with the genres on show going all the way from tropical pop to K-pop and basically everything in between. Vocally it is very much reminiscent of Grimes, as I mentioned earlier, but the production values on this sound like it's been written to be performed on the biggest stage at Coachella. It's a real eargasm for those who are looking for a very pop-driven track that isn't on the verge of hyperpop, but still has enough oomph and charm about it that you'll be hooked after the first listen. With now two releases to her name, she has surpassed the 200,000-play mark on Spotify, so she is certainly an artist who's on the rise. Be sure to keep your eye out for ...

The Meir, a rising Dutch alternative band out of Breda, makes an unforgettable entrance with their debut single, "Free". The initial track from this outfit is an absolutely sensational one, with the initial play reminding me a lot of Keane and also Elbow. ... an emotionally charged debut anthem bursting with atmospheric guitar hooks, soaring Keane-inspired vocals, and a massive chorus. Vocally, this is incredibly emotive, with plenty of atmosphere and textures flowing throughout, with solid guitar hooks that will certainly lure you into the song with every second that goes by. I honestly adored the chorus. It was fantastic, with some charging vocals that will have you singing along in no time. Considering this is their debut single, at least according to Spotify, I can see this band doing rather well in their local scene. Also, the track is the first release from the upcoming album titled "Infinite". If you like what you hear, be sure to follow them on social media ...
