New Manchester based six piece Folks have released a free download of a track called 'Avalanche' and start their own headlining UK tour this week before they go on tour with Miles Kane in October and support Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at the Roundhouse in London in October. The band will also appear on Radio 2 this weekend (Saturday 10th September) when Noel takes over Dermot O’Leary’s show between 3pm – 6pm and will perform two songs.
Bringing together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, Folks make music to be listened to and enjoyed over and over. The band were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson, and they relocated to the US to record what would end up being their début album, to be released early 2012.
On their return the duo pulled together a full band (Thom Fripp – lead guitar, Harry Gumery – bass, Wil Akroyd - keyboards and Elliot Barlow –drums) which ensured this group could also let rip live. They kept themselves busy in a rehearsal studio, out of the way, letting the tunes evolve into another side of Folks – one with absolute precision playing and amazing stage energy.
