Moats announce split + stream their farewell EP "Rough"

Moats have sadly announced that they're going to call an end to the band and part ways, but have since released a 'farewell' EP in the form of the "Rough EP", which they say - "[The EP is] a collection of 5 songs we recorded way back in 2014 with Margo Broom. We've posted about the "Rough EP" on many occasions since then and now that we are sadly taking the decision to part ways we feel it is appropriate for us to now release it as a parting gift.

It's been quite the journey from their very first show at Rhythms of the World in Hitchin all those years ago, and after storming onto the scene with a début album they instantly had 11 tracks to call their own and to perform with. They then changed their sound from the light indie-pop to a darker edge, much to what this last EP is like. Gaining fans and admires along the way, performing at Austin City Limits and two tours around Belgium they were destined for greatness.

I will always remember them as one of the hardest working bands I've followed/liked/loved and have seen them many times too, cheers guys, it was a blast!

The band's full statement reads...
Hello everyone. It comes with great sadness that Thursday evening will be our last ever gig as 'Moats'. We've had an amazing time with a lot of incredible memories that will never be lost.

The people we've met along the way are beautiful and have given us a lot of hope for our futures but we all mutually agree that it's time we progress with our lives in a different way.

We've done quite a bit for a band of simpletons from Biggleswade. Austin City Limits, 2 Belgium tours, 2 UK tours, being played on radio one and recording with some great people. Well never forget the house parties in Liverpool & Leeds and we'll always remember everyone who inspired us.

Maybe look out for new stuff in the future from us guys...
