Returning for another exciting year on Saturday 7th October, Middlesbrough's multi-venue metropolitan music festival welcomes back Twisterella. Featuring a line-up that boasts a huge selection of the brightest, highly-tipped emerging regional, national and international acts.
Highlights this year include; Neon Waltz, Dream Wife, Bossy Love, Kyko, Life, Avalanche Party, Outlya, Skinny Girl Diet, Pip Blom, The Jackobins, Jordan Allen, Cape Cub, Low Island, Desperate Journalist, Tom Joshua, The Island Club, Jake Houlsby, Pronto Mama, Josh Wantie, Eat Fast, Para Alta, Dylan Cartlidge & many more.
Centred around Teesside University's campus heart, the 1000 capacity event utilises established venues such as: Teesside University Students’ Union, The Townhouse, TSOne and The Westgarth Social Club, along with pop-up sessions in some of the town’s coolest bars in nearby Baker Street and Bedford Street.
With two of Teesside’s leading independent promoters, Pay for the Piano and The Kids Are Solid Gold joining forces, the event capitalises on the promoters’ track record for booking emerging acts. Between them, they've previously brought the likes of Mumford & Sons, Wolf Alice, Alt-J, The 1975, The Vaccines, James Bay, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Palma Violets, Frank Turner, First Aid Kit, Daughter, Field Music, Pulled Apart By Horses, Drenge, Keaton Henson, VANT, Temples, The Amazons and many more to Teesside early in their careers.
Having launched in 2014, Twisterella has already played host to Clean Cut Kid, Spring King, Fickle Friends, Eliza and the Bear, Prides, Fatherson, Black Honey, Cattle & Cane, Beach Baby, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Jake Isaac, Du Blonde, WHITE, Sweet Baboo, Menace Beach, Hyde & Beast, PINS and many more in previous years.
Nominated in the best ‘New Festival On The Block‘ category in both the 2015 and 2016AIF Festival Congress Awards, Twisterella is designed to showcase the brightest emerging national and international talent, as well as give a platform to a select number of local and regional acts who are ready to make the step up to the big stage.
