Southend-on-Sea's The Trusted has just today revealed their first single of the year, "Terrible Fight". The new single is the first since the release of "Arkansas" which came out way back in August of 2022.
Much like the preceding releases, this new track is once again an anthem with some soaring moments that'll have you hooked.
The opening of the track reminds me a lot of The 1975's early with thick synths and shimmering keys laced on top of one another. Vocally it's strong with lyrics that you can easily see people chanting back to them in an open field at a music festival.
The chorus is very driven and has a very post-punk style guitar rhythm to it helping to keep the tempo of the track flowing fast. Much like the preceding releases, this new track is once again an anthem with some soaring moments that'll have you hooked, it's clear that even though it's been around a five-month wait it feels like they've not gone anywhere, if anything they're back better than before!
On the songwriting process for the track, Tom (vocals) mentions - " ... "Terrible Fight" is a song about being metaphorically beaten up. Part of growing up is realizing that ‘life’ is basically an emotional/ psychological boxing ring. I wanted "Terrible Fight," to be a song about being knocked over by all these heavy punches as well as our ability to just keep moving forward "
