Following on from breaking past the 100k play mark on Spotify Zachary Booth has shared his upbeat new single, "HBD!". The single is his first of the year, but after hearing it we can't wait for more - and there could be a new tune or two within the coming months as he gears up for an EP release later on this year.
The blend of upbeat instruments and sad lyrics remind us almost of The Smiths, but with a West Coast Indie-pop twist.
The swagger of the song is perfect, plenty of charm and indie-pop tones that sway all over it like a palm tree in a breeze. It honestly feels like Zachary has taken the weather in Los Angeles (where he is based) and has turned it into a song.
It certainly hits the feels as we've all been forgotten by friends (and even family) on birthday's, and for me at least it feels like a song of forgetting the people who don't care about and moving on.
