Back with his third single of the year is Seattle's S.J. Armstrong, the new track is "Silver Days" and may just be his biggest release of the year.
Opening up with a bold and almost The Smiths sounding jangly guitar the singer-songwriter swiftly gets the track moving with a marching-friendly drumbeat. Even before the first word came out I knew this was going to be huge. It's got great road-trip potential with that driving backline.
Atmospheric and driving new-wave rock.
Speaking about the song he mentions - "I wrote 'Silver Days' by myself, as I do with all my songs. I intended it to be a surrealist piece, centered on the concept of a road construction worker who hides messages in those signs for an unrequested love."
The way S.J. has managed to build such an atmosphere in this track is rather mesmerizing, and he certainly will warrant a few more plays once you're done with this. It's also good to know he is releasing his new album in November, so if you want more tunes then be sure to follow him on the socials!
