Kat Knix has recently reveled her incredibly thick and bass-leaning new synth-pop tune, "Tough", and as soon as it starts it's clear that this is nothing short of a banger of a jam.
Incredibly vibrant with lots of arty hooks to get your interest from the get-go.
Kat has influences ranging from the likes of Peaches to Kate Bush and you can even hear the blending of ethereal tones with more vibrant-come-dark tones that Peaches is known for. The thick synths on the track for me carries it, and with some sizzling electronic tones throughout the underbelly it gives me throwbacks to clubbing in Berlin that one time.
Speaking of the track Kat Kinx mentions - "In 2010 I settled in London where I spent 11 staggering years. Apart from being ignited by the ooze pouring out of the vibrant city, I was involved with musical collaborations like CRISP&CLASSY, Arnie Wrong and Rookes, along with remixes for artists such as The Knife and Icona Pop. After relocating to my roots in Stockholm in 2021, I felt my superhero alter ego Kat Knix longing to get back on the road and go solo again. And she wouldn’t give up until she got what she wanted. So after settling in and reconnecting with friends and family, I was ready to obey her wishes and do her justice. And my new single ‘Tough’ was born!"
In the haunting depths of this dark synth-pop track lies something that just hits our feels, so do be sure to give it a play - pro tip, give it a loud play at night, you'll thank me!
