Manchester's next big act The Rolling People late last month dropped their massive new EP, "Before It's Gone". If you've been following us for the past year you'd have seen their faces pop up on our Spotify playlists and social channels, for good reason too - as we feel like they could be the next big Manchester rock band to break out of the scene.
Festival headline-worthy rock anthems for the masses, keep an eye on them!
The first trio of tracks have all been featured on our website, from the stunning opener "I'll Be There" to the very Britpop-inspired "Grateful for Nothing" and the more anthemic-leaning "Before It's Gone". Safe to say when I saw the EP was released I knew I'd be hooked as previously I've said that when they drop an album it could be life-changing for them.
After that rush of songs the first new cut to my ears hits me, "The Thief", it's got a stonking big guitar riffing away at the start before a frantic drumkit enters the fold. It sounds like the perfect track or a car chase in an epic action film or for running to. The vocals once again act as the main hook for me, leading me to eventually sing along to the track as if they were festival headliners.
The last full-on track of the EP comes in at you with their - what now is standard - frantic rushing sound, before a more melodic sound rolls over. Somewhat more of a slow-paced track you may think, but when the jangly guitars enter the fold they evolve into scorching tones that can tear apart space and time.
Finishing off the EP is a track that is very stripped back for me, showcasing that they're not all about that rock and roll life. "Better Man" is a charming track that ended up being my top track from the whole release as it reminded me of those Oasis b-sides from the mid-90s.
