Elijah Kusel unveils his psychy new cut, "Born Too Close To The Sun"

With a strong of releases to his name since he burst onto the scene back in 2020 Elijah Kusel has returned with his second single of the year, "Born Too Close To The Sun". The Oakland-based singer-songwriter's new single is a very chilled-out affair with smatterings of psych-pop, dream-pop and with plenty of lo-fi sounds swirled in for good measure.

Vocally Elijah sounds like a more moody version of Kevin Parker, with plenty of moments in the song that'll have you crooning over them in no time. The squelchy-sounding bursts of synth is a nice addition too, helping to give this very alt-pop track more depth. It's not a high-tempo track but that'll not stop you from being able to bop and tap along to this with.

Speaking about the track Kusel says - "It’s a song that touches on how I’ve felt and grown as a person in my recent years. I’ve gone through quite a bit of change over the past four years. I’ve gotten sober, moved, changed jobs, got into a relationship. Things are moving in a better direction and I’m forever thankful for it. It is not without its sacrifice."

With more tunes like this already out to listen to, we feel like this could be the turning point for his career, so do be sure to check out "Born Too Close To The Sun" before the big playlist curators pick up on it!
