London based four piece Ideals formed at as school friends in small town Ipswich in 2009. Relocating to London, they've since burnt a trail across the capital with their highly infectious Indie sound replete with epic chorus’ addictive rhythms, spiky guitars and big dreams in their hearts. Influenced by the heartbroken tunes of The Smiths, the exciting mix of bar chords and twisted melodies that characterised early Grunge, Ideals’ feet moving rhythms, catchy guitar hooks, crafty personal lyrics and soaring chorus’ draw favourable comparisons with everyone from the Maccabees and The National to White Lies and The Cure. Ideals are signed to the highly ambitious London imprint Intruder Records, who together, have mapped out a huge plan for 2011, including the release of six singles in one year!
Ideals have just recorded their next single titled 'Significant Other' which will be released initially as a free download on the 25th of December(official release 21st of February), and will be accompanied with an awesome mini film promo video to support it. This will be the first in the campaign of digital only single releases, the rest being timed at intervals of two months, each track compiled and released as limited edition fan only physical EPs every six months. Backing up this flurry of releases with a string of UK tours, support slots with acclaimed acts and festival dates, showing their hand and Ideals clear promise to put their songs into the hearts and homes of as many people as possible, the band are clearly ones to watch throughout the year, in 2011 you won’t be able to escape Ideals!
Ideals are building from an excellent base too, 2010 has been a year of steady momentum for the outfit. Following a string of talked about London gigs early in the year, the band caught the eye of legendary label Fierce Panda who subsequently selected the track 'These Seasons' to appear on their Zip It Up compilation CD, released in February 2010. Ideals have completed two UK tours in 2010 playing the length and breadth of these fair isles, playing support slots with both Pete Doherty and The Automatic along the way. In all, Ideals released four very well received singles in 2010, from the splendid début release ‘Lungs’ that helped the band secure a deal with US based synchronisation experts ‘Shout It Out Loud Music.’ To the personal anthem ‘Love Song’, through to the cascading melodies and urgent rhythms of ‘Forever Leisure’ and memorable recent free download single ‘Don’t tell anyone’ all of these are available to stream on soundcloud.
