Album Review... Banks - Goddess

Ever since she's been around on our radar we've loved her even more than Lana Del Rey, a big statement for me to admit to but after hearing her début album I'm sure that you're all going to agree with me, even if you have to be a massive Lana fan!

The album opens with synth-heavy number "Alibi" and basically sets the tone for the album, vocals that caress you, slick and fresh beats as well as lyrics that'll be stuck in your head for ages! She shows off all of her talents here, as in the album title track "Goddess" shows, her melodic vocals gives it another depth and if you flick down to the latter half of the album you'll find her performing an acoustic song called "Someone New", see it's not all about her vocals, she's an accomplished guitar player too, you'd be forgiven she's the next Ed Sheeran and Lucy Rose type of artist, but she's not, a lot more is going on here! With collaborations with Shon and TEED included in the album it can easily draw in the sceptical hipster and turn them to the dark side!

The album ebbs and flows with older music such as "Warm Water", "Drowning" and "Waiting Game", but with the newly mixed songs in there with brand spanking new music it's more of a journey you go on with her. As the album title suggests she is a 'Goddess' and with this strong début LP it's certainly one for the history books, expect her to grow even bigger as time goes! The mystery of her still is there, but with a little pun towards her album title, I think she's going to be worshippable soon with the release of the album. Move over Beyonce we have a new female super-star!
