IRYS reveals new dark-pop cut, "Borderline"

Late September saw Berlin-based singer-songwriter/producer IRYS drop her dark new single "Borderline". The new single comes off the back of her reaching the 200k stream mark on Spotify (with well more spins on other platforms too).

With a strong following locally it's now shaping up to be a blossoming career for one of the biggest names on the Berlin electro-pop scene, and long may her rise continue!

The crackle of a record turning opens up the track with a haunting guitar setting the tone for the rest of the track.  Her vocals remind me of the hushed tones Grimes has mixed with the flair of Kacey Musgraves, not bad considering the track is entirely made in a bedroom set-up.

The fact that IRYS made the track all on her own is simply fantastic, and taking inspiration from the likes of Charli XCX, Lana Del Rey and the aforementioned Grimes means that even though the track may be sitting in the dark-pop realm it's still very accessible to the masses.
