Rising Sheffield quartet VIVAS just this Friday released their cover of "As It Was" by Harry Styles. It's no shock that the track by Harry has transcended a broad spectrum of fans who like a variety of genres, and what VIVAS has done here is give it a right old seeing too!
The track has turned from a pop tune to an indie-rock anthem with a slight emo-rock feel to it. The guitars on this are a blend of jangly indie-pop tones mixed with deeper rock riffs, something that you'd find on an upbeat Bring Me The Horizon track for example.
This cover just once again solidifies the band as one of the hottest indie-rock bands that's currently on the rise in Sheffield.
Vocally it's just as good as their own signature sounds and really enhances the experience for the listener even further.
Speaking about the track the band say - " ... it’s something we have always looked into as a band is to do a cover of a song that is completely left field and make it our own. When we went back into the studio to start pre-production on new material back in September we mentioned this to our producer (Federico Telesca) and he was the one who suggested "As It Was", almost instantly after bringing it up with him. As soon as he suggested it we were like "That's it! That's the song!" and we went full steam ahead with it knowing perfectly well how we were going to approach it."
This cover just once again solidifies the band as one of the hottest indie-rock bands that's currently on the rise in Sheffield, and if you like this be sure to listen to their previous trio of tracks too!
