Following his debut solo single, Carl Kammeyer is back, and just last month saw the singer-songwriter reveal his new single, "You". One thing that hit me like a bus was how soulful and vibrant it is, think those seductive tones of Marvin Gaye but mixed with more urgency like an indie-pop act.
... a sun-drenched soul-pop gem.
Musically, it's enriched with summer-themed sounds that got me wanting to head on vacation almost instantly to chase the sun. The tones can be compared to the likes of indie act Metronomy and even OutKast in parts too.
It's clear to see that the sounds on "You" straddle multiple genres, which to me really can ease in fans from a wide spectrum of musical tastes. That is a recipe for success if you ask me, as he's still in the early days of releasing solo material, and for me, I'd have to concede that it's 'so far so good' with what we can hear. It's addictive, upbeat and vibrant with vocal tones that'll have you yearning for more.
