Sheffield has a new indie band to hype to the sky and back. After performing at SXSW London earlier on this year, The Kellows have today released their debut single "Do You Want Me To?".
A bright and jangly guitar sound welcomes you in, and it immediately grips you. If you grew up with the sounds of The Pigeon Detectives, Bloc Party and The Enemy, then "Do You Want Me To?" is going to take you back to 2009 in an instant.
... a jangly, high-octane debut that channels the spirit of 2009 indie and demands a spot on the next EAFC (fka FIFA) playlist.
The whole track has this ten-out-of-ten 'FIFA' sound, with frantic guitars and strong vocal hooks all backed up with pulsating bass and those aforementioned punchy drums.
The buzz around this release on their local scene is big, and now that they're here for the world to hear, we feel like this is just the start for the young quartet. From the energy of Arctic Monkeys and the excitement of Reverend and the Makers with a dash of Britishness that Pulp has, to say we're excited for them is an understatement.
