York-based duo The Pennydrops have burst onto the scene with their bold debut, "Nightblindness". Comprising of songwriters J.J. Chamberlain and Izzy Hartley (of whom the former has been on here previously) their sound is a stunning fusion of alternative rock, folk, and grunge-tinged emotion.
... blending alt-rock, folk, and grunge into a warm, poetic, and punchy anthem.
Even from the very start, you have this fizzing acoustic guitar swirling around your head, before a crisp percussive section comes in with strings. It's quite the opening, and even if it was instrumental, we would be blown away, so imagine us when the voice came in - we were blown away by the way their tones balance one another.
The track is nostalgic with plenty of warmth, very poetic and yet punchy. This new offering from a new act is quite the debut!
