The Owl Sounds drop their stunning debut, "Oscar"

The Owl Sounds have quite literally burst onto the scene with their exciting track, "Oscar". The rumbling intro is driven by a chunky guitar riff that beckons you forward. As such, when the vocals come in, I feel that anyone listening for the first time will already be invested well before the track finally drops around the one-minute mark.

... a ferocious, slow-burning debut that explodes into a wall of post-punk energy you won’t forget.

It’s not a funky track as such in its initial opening sequence, but when it does drop, you’re greeted with more aggressive vocals that suggest this band means business. For me, this sounds like a punky version of Fontaines D.C., mixed with plenty of angst and a slight post-punk revival sheen, evident in both the production and the main guitar line you’ll be hearing throughout.

As far as debut tracks go, this is pretty damn good and up there with the very best. What really hooked me, though, was the final minute — it’s filled with surging guitars that wash over your ears with sheer energy. The Owl Sounds are a band you’ll need to keep an eye on. With just over a hundred thousand listeners on Spotify, they sound like they’re about to blow up at any moment.
