Yurina’s "Liquid Gold" is a hypnotic indie pop and indie rock release emerging from Zagreb, Croatia. From the very outset, you’re greeted with a quirky, slightly Asian-leaning guitar line, before the drums drop in alongside a ticking bassline that instantly gets your head nodding in approval.
... a hypnotic, Madchester-inspired groove that sounds like a lost ’90s classic reborn in Zagreb.
To me, it evokes the spirit of the Madchester scene of the early ’90s. There’s a superb groove running throughout, paired with moody vocals and a deep, infectious pulse that keeps you fully engaged. The dual vocals are a standout touch too – with moody male vocals complemented by a shimmering female counterpart that lifts the entire track.
It honestly feels like it could have been lifted straight from the early ’90s, reminiscent of bands like The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. Who would have thought a band from Zagreb, Croatia, could channel such a distinctly British sound so convincingly?
At just over four minutes, it’s pure magic – a track that keeps you hooked from start to finish and is undoubtedly one of their strongest releases to date. Be sure to check it out, along with the full album it’s taken from, "Neptune Diamond Rain".
