"Bring All Your Lovers" by The Essence of The Universe is a hypnotic and psychedelic-leaning alternative rock track. Hailing from Sweden, the duo have built up a reputation thanks to their debut release, "Ave Maria", which came out earlier this year.
... a hypnotic, nostalgia-soaked alt-rock journey that shows The Essence of The Universe are a band with serious promise.
It is an incredibly rich track that has incredible production values. It's hazy, psychedelic, and, for me, it seems a bit shoegaze in places too, but be sure to keep an ear out for that chorus, as it is, for me, the highlight of the track. It's very shouty, very uplifting, and it still has this breezy undercurrent to it.
With the song having roots in the '90s alternative scene, this certainly seems like a track that has plenty of nostalgia going for it, with plenty of retro feels that will give you that flavour of 30 years ago.
What I do appreciate about this band is not necessarily anything to do with the single, but with the release itself. What they've done with the first two singles is release an A-side and a B-side. Even though there are only two singles, you have four tracks to sink your teeth into, so you can really get acquainted with the band before they start getting wider recognition. And trust me, based on this track, it seems like these guys are just getting started.
