The Nagual Effect's latest single, "Dive Away", is a captivating blend of dream pop, indie rock and psychedelic sounds. The textures on this song are incredible, and right from the very start, you've got this broodingly dark beat and vocals almost leeching into your ears, but in a good way.
... a dark, immersive and beautifully atmospheric, "Dive Away" is a hypnotic fusion of dream pop, shoegaze and industrial edge.
Vocally, this is incredibly dark, and the Greek outfit has done a tremendous amount of work to make this a moody and atmospheric piece.
For me, it sounds a bit like those darkwave bands that lean on the sounds of Joy Division. However, this one feels a bit more industrial in terms of how grand the production comes across.
With some washed-out sounds and shoegazey noises, this is certainly one of those immersive tracks that will be able to grip you from the very first play. Be sure to keep an ear out for the country and roots-driven harmonica section leading towards the final minute. This is an absolute winner in my eyes.
