Single Review.... Sam Lee – Goodbye My Darling

Sam Lee ended 2012 on a all time high, his album “Ground Of It's Own” was nominated for the Barclycard Mercury Prize that year, and this year welcomes him with open arms and with a lot more fans to entice into his musical world. Goodbye My Darling: The track starts off with a synth line, a bit strange considering that Sam is a folk artist, however it creates another level for the listener to ponder over. With aboriginal digarey-doo sounds and even more intricate noises coming forth, such as violins, the acoustic guitar and his haunting vocals. Nellie Feldmann's new single, "Turn Down My Shine", has just been released. The single is a shimmeringly beautiful acoustic track with licks of indie folk for good measure. It is a vocally rich track that showcases her vocals perfectly and, all the while, is laid upon a track that has a perfect tempo to get you tapping along without realising. ... a delicate, genre-blending acoustic gem that highlights a promising new voice in alt-pop. Based in Brighton, the South Coast artist seemingly blends intimate vocals, warm lo-fi textures, and delicate acoustic instrumentation to craft an alt-pop track that is rather easy to pick up on for anyone who wishes to listen. It's not the kind of song that sticks to one genre and focuses highly on that. She picks great elements and moulds them all together to create something so captivating. Hailing from DeLand, Florida, solo artist JP2 completely redefines independent rock with his audacious new single, "Enter Sandman". The cover of Metallica's standout song is quite the piece, with a slightly brighter tone, which leans more towards the alt-rock and indie rock genres. ... a bold reimagining of a metal classic that transforms "Enter Sandman" into an indie-rock anthem. Yes, the vocals are still as dark as the original, with the main guitar also being very deep, but the overall feel of this track is fantastic and can easily hold a candle to the original. It does feel like it's been taken up a semitone or two, especially with the chorus feeling more like a track you'd hear at Reading and Leeds Festival or even Glastonbury, for that matter. I love these sorts of covers that reinvent a classic song into one that artists can call their own. With their Electronic-Acoustic-DubStep-Dance orientated début album it's refershing to see a great live band record an amazing track acoustically. It is a part of the re-released album 'Star Of Love (Deluxe Version)' which is out now. 'Champion Sound (Acoutsic)' is more like how they play it live (bar the electronics), with a different layout than the album version this one is brilliant! They all really do put their hearts and souls into this song as you can hear when the chorus pops up. Energetic yet a calming song to listen to. Interview with...Nothing But Thieves

Alternative rock five-piece Nothing But Thieves have been conquering the music scene this year. With an incredible debut album released last month and numerous epic singles, there is no stopping this band. We caught up with guitarist Joe and bassist Phil before their headline show at a sold-out Thekla in Bristol. Emerald Park shares the intimate new single, "A Song To C"

Based out of Malmo, Sweden is Emerald Park, and today it sees the act reveal their rich new single, "A Song To C". The song is a tender, slow-burning affair that is laced with lots of rich synthy moments and sprinklings of electronic noises. ... a tender, synth-soaked slow burn where Nordic melancholy, thick basslines, and lived-in intimacy collide in atmospheric indie pop.
