Based out of Nottingham in England is five-piece Spiral Orbit recently revealed their strong new track titled "Isolation Zone". The new cut from the band is their second of the year, and the intro alone was enough for me to give the song a chance, as it reminds me a lot of New Order and The Killers, especially when the synths come in after a few seconds. ... a synth-charged, '80s-inspired rock anthem that turns pandemic uncertainty into an uplifting, high-energy payoff. With the aforementioned similarities to New Order, this track really does have a big late '80s synth-rock feel to it, with the vocal hooks also sounding like they have been cherry-picked from that era. Add in some more '70s glam rock-sounding synths and what you have here is a track that is incredibly nostalgic and yet feels as fresh as anything else out in the world right now. 2022 saw Ryan Thomas Smelle release his debut album "In The Homestretch" to great success, and the latest single to be given the single treatment is track 13 - lucky for some - "Shame Shame". Coming at a perfect two minutes flat the single is wrapped with warmth, as you might be able to tell from his vocal tones. In-fact it's Ryan's vocals that are the prominent feature here as you can hear the tenderness in his voice, with a slight quiver to give it that raw and emotive feel. This band was one of those acts that were emerging during the mid-'90s, so the fact that this song has massive Britpop nostalgia about it makes complete sense. ... a dark, Prodigy-tinted remix that breathes thrilling new modern life into a 34-year-old Britpop gem. This was originally a B-side on one of their 1992 singles and has since been remixed by producer Harry Kook to be given a new lease of life.
