Based out of Preston in England is singer-songwriter Patrick T Jenkinson, and today sees him share his debut single, "No Mean Feat". Speaking about the track, Patrick says - "Originally penned with a touch of dark comedy to highlight the frustrations of public transport and long-distance relationships, the track has evolved into a poignant reminder to persevere in the face of adversity."
... a striking solo debut blending dark and dream-pop textures.
The single is his first outing as a solo artist, but by the sound of it we're convinced he's been doing this for years. The track has quite the build up, with a stirring blend of synth-pop, indie-rock, and alternative pop that captured our ears from the first play.
The sound here reminds me of the slow jams that David Bowie would release, to the darker sounds of the mid-2000s Radiohead. Teh track is very textured throughout, and with those seismic synth sounds it balances perfectly between the dark-pop and dream-pop subgenres, so it's safe to say if you like your floating synth-driven tracks that balance on the edge of dream pop, then this may be what you've been looking for.
